Making Time

After a Saturday full of sessions and working like crazy to stay on top of things Morgan came into my office after finishing his work and brought me back to reality. He reminded me that Halloween was in two days and we haven’t done anything to celebrate one of my normally favorite holidays. Past years, I spend more time in DI than the whole rest of the year combined searching for pieces for halloween costumes or strategizing our October to fit in all the Halloween traditions but this year’s October was filled with everything but festivities. Im not mad about being busy, In fact it doesn’t bother me at all. I was just very grateful that Morgan is here to help me remember to at least make it to the pumpkin patch.

I saved all my work and projects that I was so consumed in and we hoped in the truck and rushed over to a Pumpkin patch. We tried to make sure we went to a good patch that was close enough to us without arriving when it was too dark and getting too cold. After we arrived, we found ourself wandering around not really sure what to look for. Normally, I would try to find one with the best side that has a great surface to carve. But knowing that it was going to be a miracle for us to be able to find time to carve these things, we were just looking for pumpkins that looked… for lack of a better word, cute? As we were walking around pointing out the crazy looking pumpkins and the plants that didn’t even closely resemble a pumpkin, we heard a mom tell her son ” you need to make sure it has a good stem, that doesn’t have a good stem” so we added that to our list too. Cute and has a good stem. hahaha! can anyone tell my why your pumpkin needs a good stem??

When it was all said and done we found our two pumpkins, weighed them in, put them in the back of the truck and went out to dinner. This October wasn’t crazy festive for us this Halloween but I am so grateful that we are able to hop in the car and make fun of a few pumpkins and just spend time together. Spending time with each other is something that I have really really started to cherish lately especially while we are both working and Morgan is going to school, I seem to have less and less time with this hunk of mine. I know its temporary and he will graduate and make loads of money and we will spend the rest of our lives together on a beach out on our private island… but until then, Ill cherish the time I do get to spend with him one on one, keep working hard and in the meantime, stock up on swimsuits and sunscreen 😉
